Welcome to the 2013-2014 Central New York ASHRAE Chapter year. Your Chapter Officers and Board of Governors began their terms in July and have been busy training for their new positions and preparing to make this another successful year. We have filled most of our program for this year and are in the process of updating our website.
We are still meeting at the DoubleTree just off Carrier Circle in East Syracuse. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, October 16th at 5:30pm. Our technical program will feature Eric Wing of C&S presenting BIM Practices. We plan to offer professional development hours for as many of our meeting programs as possible. We will also try lunch meetings for our January and February meetings. Other chapters have reported better attendance at lunch meetings; what are your thoughts?
We are fortunate to have a very active board and steady meeting attendance. As Chapter members I am asking you to help us make this an even more active Chapter in terms of meeting attendance. What would encourage you to attend Chapter meetings more regularly? What format works best for you (lunch, dinner, etc.). Do you have program ideas? What could we do locally to add more value to your ASHRAE membership? What is the best way to communicate with you (email, newsletter, website, LinkedIn, other)? Your feedback (firstname.lastname@example.org) will help us to put your Chapter to work for you more effectively.
Society President Bill Bahnfleth described his theme, "Shaping the Next" in the August ASHRAE Journal or check out his speech at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq41qlaWlP8. President Bahnfleth also spoke at the Region 1 Chapters Regional Conference (CRC) in Burlington, VT last month.
On behalf of the entire Chapter, thanks goes to Past-President Bill Walter and last year's Board for their hard work in achieving the Presidential Award of Excellence, meeting the Research Promotion goal, putting together an excellent program schedule, and running another successful clambake!
I look forward to your input and to seeing you at upcoming meetings.
